North And South Sudan Fight Over Oil
South Sudan finally became independent of the north. The two countries are now fighting over oil. North Sudan is seeking compensation for debts and also for use of a pipeline that allows South Sudan to transport oil to the Red Sea.
Regional disputes like these are a reminder that our nation must become energy independent. Our economy and overall security is still dependent on far away regional fights over oil.
Pakistan Snubs U.S. Envoy
The U.S. wanted to send Marc Grossman to Islamabad to discuss talks with the Taliban. Officials in Pakistan denied the visit. Indicating very chilled relations between Pakistan and the U.S.
Pakistan remains vital regardless of any cold shoulder they are giving our nation. Pakistan has nuclear weapons and a significant population of radical Islamists. This is a dangerous mix and must be avoided.
